The church of Santa Lucia and San Giovanni in Eltili
The church is located 12 km from Baunei, in the area where the village of Eltili once stood, and disappeared in medieval times. Simple in its structure, in vernacular style, it has a sail bell tower located on the top of the façade, inside of which there is a small bell. This consists of an ogival arch surmounted by a wooden cross. The main entrance is surmounted by a rectangular light window not in line with the architrave of the entrance. The gabled roof extends, on the left side, to cover the volumes of a secondary building leaning against the religious structure, consisting of a single large room named by the faithful stàulus*, used as a service room. The shelters for the faithful deriving from the ancient Byzantine monasteries, called cumbessìas or stàulus in the Baunese dialect, are intended to welcome those who organize the feast in honor of Saint Lucia, which takes place, usually, on Tuesday after Pentecost.
